PRINCIPAL’S CORNER
Joy Raboli reported on the search for a new science teacher; have not yet found the right match for SCS.
Parent question: What is the next school event?
Heart Week and Celebration of Learning coming up.
Parent question: Was the Harvest Festival profitable?
   Profit of about $2000.
Parent question: How do we prepare our kids to move from a very small school to a large high school?
In the past, SCS alumni have returned to be a panel for 8th graders to ask questions. A big change is the language they hear, and the largeness of the halls. Students take about 2-3 weeks to adjust to the social side of high school, but solid academics help them make the jump socially.
Parent suggested creating buddies for 8th graders (with SCS alum) moving to high school.

TREASURER REPORT –
Chase account: $15,533.49
BottleDrop: $492.58
PayPal: $2,862.33
BottleDrop last week; not a great turnout, but some were donated.
Wreath/poinsettia: expenses of $2,422; profit of $2,476.29

NEW BUSINESS –

School garden: Hadar met with garden committee this past Monday; went really well. Will survey teachers, staff, students to see what they want out of the garden. Plan from there. Will meet with Ms. Raboli next week. One middle school teacher is interested in a garden elective; other teachers interested in using the garden for classes.
Ideas offered during meeting:

Give kids a chance to grow something from seed, & send seedlings home.
Look up Sherwood Garden Club.
With interested kids/elective class, tour Mustard Seed Farm (or other farm).
Start a Junior Gardening Guild at SCS, where kids can sign up for a class on Fridays.
Summer plan:
Make it a community garden. Have a weekly signup sheet for families to take care of the garden during summer.

Teacher/staff luncheon updates: Next luncheon is Jan. 5 – 4th grade. Parent leads: Tara Garcia, Kryste Sturm. May: combining kinder-1st grades for luncheon.

Dining Night Out: Gloria Quinones setting up restaurants for the 2024 calendar year.

Harvest Festival: Ms. Raboli would like PAC to take over this fundraiser next year. Hadar meeting with her next week for more details, before PAC makes a decision.

Change Winter Festival to Bingo night: Cancel winter festival; have a Bingo night instead. End with snowball fight. Potential date: January 18. Korrin Fyall coordinating; Roxy & Heather helping. Need to keep “winter” in the title, as wreath/poinsettia sales benefit it.

Heart Week dance: Confirm date of Feb. 15 with Ms. Raboli. Theme: 80s dance party. Donation focus: donate gently used sneakers. Elisa Graybill will coordinate the art, but needs a project lead. Elisa will make robot for sneaker box; potentially paint a backdrop. Tentatively plan for a January date, and push Sock Hop Family Dance into March.

Board appreciation month in January: Budget of $150. Gift: PAC board will sign cards @ Jan 10 meeting; mail gift cards with cards.

Upcoming events:
Winter break: Dec 15-Jan 2
SCS board appreciation month: Jan 1-31
PAC general board meeting: Jan 10, 6pm
Teachers/staff luncheon (4th grade): Jan 5

Meeting adjourned at 7:34 pm.
